Bill, an M.D., and Nancy, a Ph.D. in genetics, were a young couple with tremendous hope — only to see their life together shattered by fear, anxiety, and drug abuse. Driven apart by their struggles and medicated with drug and alcohol dependency, their marriage ended in divorce.
Ten years later, a crisis with their college-age son brought them back into conversation. Nancy was miserable in an abusive second marriage, spiraling out of control. When Bill told her, "I love you and want you to come home," she replied, "I'm coming," setting them on a path toward restoration.
Their journey was not easy. It was a "refiner's fire" that demanded forgiveness for one another, total surrender, and absolute trust in God. They faced continued battles: Nancy's recovery from addiction, the pain of failed second marriages, and later, her life-threatening struggle with breast cancer and sepsis.
Through these trials, Bill and Nancy became an example of God's amazing grace. Their story details how they moved from the deepest despair to a life of fulfillment, love, and gratitude — enveloped in the goodness of God.

Meet the Authors
Dr. Bill & Dr. Nancy Walker
Dr. William Walker
Dr. William Walker, a native of Anderson, South Carolina, attended Emory University for both college and medical school. He completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine and a pulmonary fellowship before serving as Chief Resident in Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Over the course of his distinguished career, he helped develop pulmonary, critical care, and respiratory therapy services at his hospital, earning the American Thoracic Society's Award for Clinical Excellence in 2018.
Dr. Nancy Walker
Nancy Walker was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and met William while they were both studying organic chemistry at Emory. She later earned a Ph.D. from Clemson University, where she taught genetics, as well as a Master of Theological Studies from Erskine Theological Seminary, where she taught ethics.
Through seasons of profound hardship — including addiction, divorce, cancer, and eventual remarriage — the Walkers experienced the miraculous healing and restoration of God. Their journey taught them that even in the darkest circumstances, it is possible to trust God without fear and walk in complete peace.
Today, William and Nancy live on their family farm, where they raise grass-fed beef, enjoy gardening, and remain deeply active in their church and faith community.
